Raulerson Hospital is recognized by the American College of Radiology as being one of the only healthcare facilities in the State of Florida to be accredited in all five imaging modalities: CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography.

We offer the latest in diagnostic imaging studies using our:

  • Fully digital, state-of-the-art equipment, including CR and PACS
  • New BrightSpeed 16-slice CT scanner which provides superior image quality and quicker scans
  • DEXA imaging system which is used to detect osteoporosis and provides Bone Density screening
  • Digital Mammography system with iCAD (computer aided diagnosis) which offers outstanding image quality and an easier, more comfortable exam experience

Digital Mammography System (Senographe DS)
The system at Raulerson Hospital is considered the most modern mammography equipment available today. It offers outstanding image quality and an easier, more comfortable exam experience for patients. Exams can take less than half the time of standard mammography exams, breast images can be reviewed electronically for improved workflow, and the system offers easier access to lesions for biopsies.

iCAD (Computer-Aided Diagnosis) MammoReader System
This is a powerful and innovative Computer-Aided Detection system, utilized in the radiology department of Raulerson Hospital, that serves as a second set of eyes to help our radiologist spot suspicious areas in the breast. A mammogram "double read" by a radiologist or assessed by iCAD is highly recommended as an optional tool alongside a digital mammography system.

Bone Density Screening - DEXA
Osteoporosis causes bones to become weak, brittle, and prone to fractures. It develops as a result of having low levels of calcium and minerals, using steroids, or as a side effect of certain diseases. Regular exercise and adequate amounts of calcium and vitamin D, and an osteoporosis screening are four important ways to keep bones healthy all throughout life. For more information on an osteoporosis screening with our state-of-the-art DEXA system at Raulerson Hospital, call our radiology department 863-824-2982.

PACS
In the radiology department at Raulerson Hospital, medical imaging is now handled by picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), a system dedicated to the storage, retrieval, distribution and presentation of images to the radiologist and enables practitioners in different physical locations to access the same information simultaneously. The PACS system expedites the time from the test to the reading by our radiologist and allows your family physician to sign on to the internet and look at the same images.

CT Scan
Raulerson Hospital’s GE 16 slice CT Scan system is used to examine the brain, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. CT scans help diagnose a range of problems by taking thin slices (images) of your insides. Our new Bright Speed CT Scanner offers the latest in “multi-slice CT technology along with clinical applications that will allow physicians to quickly and accurately perform multiple diagnostic exams. These exams help diagnose disease or life-threatening illness such as chest pain, stroke and cardiovascular disease.

Fluoroscopy
Technologists at Raulerson Hospital use the Fluoroscopy technique to obtain “Live X-Ray" images of the patient. It is very similar to an X-Ray TV camera. At Raulerson Hospital Fluoroscopy is often used to observe the digestive tract (Upper GI series – Barium Swallow, Lower GI series – and Barium Enema). We also use Fluoroscopy during diagnostic and therapeutic radiologic procedures to observe the action of instruments used to diagnose or treat a patient.

MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is primarily a medical imaging technique most commonly used in radiology to visualize the structure and function of the body. At Raulerson Hospital, a new MRI system is about to be installed and ready for service in the next couple of months.

The MRI scan uses magnetic and radio waves, meaning that there is no exposure to X-rays or any other damaging forms of radiation. Because patients have to lie inside a large cylinder while the scans are being made some people get claustrophobic during the test. Patients who are afraid this might happen should discuss this with the Raulerson technologist beforehand, who may request a medication from the physician to help them relax.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body.. Our technologists at Raulerson Hospital can observe and record blood flow, internal organs, pregnancies, cancer, abdominal disorders, blood vessel problems, pelvic disorders or other problems. Ultrasound imaging is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.

X-Ray
The X-Ray technologists at Raulerson Hospital are highly trained healthcare specialists, with specific skills in utilizing our digital X-Ray equipment to take images of the body so that diseases, conditions, or injuries can be visualized and diagnosed. Raulerson Hospital continues to maintain state-of-the-art equipment and our physicians can access all images on or off site utilizing the PACS system.
